The weathertech mats for the front will absolutely provide more coverage for the sides of the floorboard area and the material will be thicker
The rear mats for oem and weathertech are very similar in their coverage area. In two different vehicles, i've had weathertech, oem toyota all weather, and husky's Of the three, the husky's and weathertechs are superior, and will protect the carpet and surrounding area better The huskies have a more rubbery, tactile feel where as the weathertechs are more of a smooth surface.
I am about to buy a new set of all weather mats for my 2014 tacoma Dis 15 dc v6 sr hood struts weathertech floor mats roll n lock bed cover with custom yakima rack over the bed poploc tail gate bed mat retrofit source led fog lights hitch and or 4 pin wiring or just random small crap I have the husky but the weathertech uses the oem clip to lock them in place Not that it will move around any.
